This practical session will explore tried-and-tested approaches to developing children’s understanding of multiplication using a range of resources and representations. The emphasis on conceptual understanding, rather than rote memorisation, will support the children in recalling multiplication (and related division) facts whilst, more importantly, equipping them with strategies for deriving facts that they have not yet committed to memory.
