Session One - Creating a play space
Play is an important aspect of child development and schools have an increasing responsibility to offer opportunities for quality play, especially as many children have limited play experiences outside of school. During this session we will consider the components needed to make an ideal play environment. Delegates will experience a playground audit to identify different types of play offered and investigate how we can develop them. Using the skills taught delegates will be able to use the playground audit to identify the play components offered in their own setting and identify areas for development. We will also explore how to support and manage wet play successfully, whilst meeting the needs of the children.
The session will be practical with some time spent outdoors so please dress appropriately.
Delegates may attend sessions as stand alone or all sessions.
