Reading for pleasure is the single most important indicator of a child’s future success. OECD 2002
Research shows that Reading for Pleasure not only improves all-round attainment in school (including in maths) but also increases empathy skills and improves mental wellbeing. But what is Reading for Pleasure and how do you put it in place? This course looks at the research on Reading for Pleasure, provides you with a workable definition of what it is, and gives you a range of practical approaches to ensure that the children in your school love reading.
Find out how to get the most out of your story times, libraries and book stock with the editor of the Scholastic Reading Audit*.

It asks you to reflect on how you teach reading, but also what you have in place to ensure that all children in your school love reading. It was written by and is edited by Rachel Clarke the presenter of this course. https://www.scholastic.co.uk/reading-hub/reading-audit/primary
