‘Switch on, sit back and learn’ this session will focus on one small area of learning and will enable delegates will take away strategies/information that they can put into action immediately.
The focus of this one hour, lecture style remote session is Speech Language and Communication Needs- Strategies for SLCN in the Classroom.
Defining Areas of Need/Specific Neurodiverse Differences
- Understanding SLCN, including difficulties with speech, language, and communication skills.
- Importance: Recognising the impact on learning, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
Understanding How to Identify and Support
- Identifying signs such as limited vocabulary, difficulty following instructions, and challenges in social communication.
- Collaborating with speech and language therapists for assessments.
Gain a Toolbox of Practical Strategies and Approaches
- Using visual supports and structured language activities.
- Encouraging peer interaction through guided social games.
- Implementing individualised education plans (IEPs).
