This session will look at some of the specific skills that are necessary in order to problem solve. We will consider what we mean by problem solving and the difference between routine and non-routine problems. Time will be spent considering how we can teach problem solving skills explicitly as well as evaluating mathematical tasks in terms of the opportunities provided for using them in different contexts.
