Modelling the thought processes involved in solving problems is Rosenshine’s fourth principle of instruction. In this course we look at modelling from the perspective of teaching English in the primary classroom and provide practical approaches to help participants secure modelling in their own practice. It is an active course, involving live modelling of reading and writing. This course will include shared reading, and modelled and shared writing.
Course Outcomes:
• Establish what is meant by cognitive load and how it can be reduced
• Consider how to undertake modelled practice in reading and writing
• Provide attendees with practical take aways to put into practice.
