ENGLISH POWER HOUR: Getting to grips with handwriting

‘Switch on, sit back and learn’ this session will focus on one small area of learning and will enable delegates will take away strategies/information that they can put into action immediately.
Course attendees will leave with up-to-date knowledge of developments in primary handwriting teaching and strategies for continued improvement of the subject. The course includes approaches for teaching handwriting and fine motor skills, letter formation and cursive writing, and support for children who need adjustments.
Course objectives:
• Establishing the current landscape influencing thinking about handwriting including Telling the Story (Ofsted 2024) and Strong foundations in the First Years of School (Ofsted 2024)
• Exploring the requirements for handwriting contained in the national curriculum
• Providing exemplification of key terminology and approaches for teaching handwriting.
