Talk is an essential tool for learning. Children learn through talk and use talk to share their understanding. But how can we set up opportunities for them to make the most of talk in structured and meaningful ways? On this short course, we look at some of the ways we can use talk as a teaching tool and as an approach for children to explore and grow their understanding of the curriculum.
Course objectives:
• Explore how talk is an essential learning tool
• Share a range of approaches to promote talk in the classroom
• Consider how to provide progressive spoken language opportunities across the school.
