‘Switch on, sit back and learn’ this session will focus on one small area of learning and will enable delegates will take away strategies/information that they can put into action immediately.

Recent research from the National Literacy Trust (2024) shows that fewer than 3 in 10 children and young people aged 8 to 18 said that they enjoy writing in their free time. With this in mind, how can we create writing opportunities that children find enjoyable?

On this course we share ideas that can be used as part of the writing teaching sequence and additional enhancements to everyday provision that should spark a love of writing.

Course objectives:

• Share a range of approaches to enhance writing teaching sequences

• Provide examples of enrichment activities to supplement day to day teaching

• Raise the confidence of attendees in the teaching of writing
