Poetry is the marmite of English teaching; teachers either love it or loathe it! On this course we aim to put the love into your poetry teaching. We look at reading, writing and performing poetry in using practical and engaging approaches that break the cycle of spotting rhyme schemes and poetic devices.

Course Outcomes:

• Consider the place of poetry within the English curriculum

• Build knowledge of poems and poets

• Experience approaches for teaching poetry
