This half-day session will:

· identify key stages of the capability process and help to distinguish between a situation that is disciplinary rather than capability;

· help leaders with the difficult decision of whether to begin the capability process;

· place the Teachers’ standards as central to the process for teachers, identifying other benchmarks for non-teaching staff;

· outline key aspects of employment law that leaders need to be aware of, and important references and sources of guidance.
