Strategies for Supporting Neurodiverse Learners with SEND/ Additional or Complex Needs Series (4 of 6): Bridging Phonics to Fluency: Empowering Emergent Neurodiverse Readers With SEND

If you are unsure of strategies for teaching phonics and decoding skills to neurodivergent learners with barriers to literacy, learners with additional needs/SEND, including those with specific learning difficulties/dyslexia, complex needs, and other language-based learning differences, this is the course for you.
Key Highlights:
• Developing a deeper understanding of phonics and decoding. Ensuring clarity around terminology and next steps in provision (tackling fidelity and all SSPs).
• A focus on developing print awareness, phonological awareness, sight vocabulary, comprehension strategies and fluency to automaticity.
• Assessing learners needs, looking at tools and techniques used to assess language comprehension and word recognition (including learners who may be pre/nonverbal)
• Creating effective inclusive reading curriculums (Moseley 2023), based on a universal design for learning philosophy, using adaptive teaching to make learning accessible, multisensory, and meaningful (with practical strategies throughout).
• Monitoring and adjusting approaches- auditing provision (free access to audit tool Sullivan and Moseley 2023) monitoring progress and adjusting to meet needs.
• Partnership working with all stakeholders.
